It was my first quarter in Barrio Islote, Arecibo, Puerto Rico, a hidden gem of a beach town on the north coast of the island, imagine p ostcard shots of ‘best beaches in the world’ boom… Islote. Golden beaches, natural bridges, tide pools, waves, cocos, birds, blue everything! Early call times are a must to beat the heat of the day, catch the glassy waves, or just get to your endless chore list that also includes a check box : check for tarantula nests surrounding the house.
None the less, the dream location for party planners, full of different venues to throw parties for profit. Let’s not forget we are creating seasonal employment for the young folk living in the area I.e.; prep, service, cook, janitorial service, venue rental, other rando rentals, hiring entertainment, all contributing to what I love, orchestrating warm experiences that flow.
For those who do not know me, I have been in the Hospitality industry for over a decade, working primarily as a Bartender which exposed me to opportunities for organizing, hosting, catering smaller parties for the balanced adult.
I met my partner in crime in Islote, she houses the same enthusiasm, experience and vision to create dope ass events.
With backgrounds in major cities from Los Angeles, New York to Miami and vavation destinations such as Martha's Vineyard, the sudden down shift into second gear from fourth was a near halt… Most coastal bars and restaurants take last call around 9pm with ya few chinchorros open later…NOTE LEARN HOW TO PLAY POOL REALLY WELL, obligao’
oh blee gaw oh(obliged). But that gets old, a monthly jam is all we really need. A backyard boogie, a weekend oasis for adults with some plata (monies honey) spare. We would bring foot traffic to our small town and not just for Sunday Cruises. Live music? DJs, open jam sesh?
So, thus began planning an event to showcase our visions; cocktail, food, music and art concepts while providing employment opportunities for the local community. We thought we hit all the boxes…. We were prepped with food, booze, dj, hookahs, edison lights, and servers, janitorial… , it was an open format party…. Testing the waters and the crowd…. With expectations of up to 80 people we absolutely made the best of every moment. We were about 25 -40 heads throughout the night… those 25-40 know who they are and are our day 1s forever. We received great feedback and ideas to PROMOTE. It was a lot of work regardless, possibly too much responsibility without adequate support, at least we were able to record some data for future events.
After this challenging event, I discovered Traffic Sense, a game-changing technology that revolutionized my approach to foot traffic management. By shifting my focus to tech events and leveraging Traffic Sense's real-time data analytics, I transformed the way I planned and executed successful gatherings.
